Preserving Your Bounty
Thursday, July 31, 2014
6:00 – 9:00 p.m.

Join us in the beautiful Basket of Life Farm barn for an introduction to canning using the hot water bath method.

Farmer and home canning enthusiast Heather Walters will take the mystery out of food preservation, from choosing recipes and picking produce all the way to a safe and delicious finished product. You will watch from start to finish as she demonstrates two different recipes, and gives you the tools to apply the techniques to countless others.

She will also discuss other preservation methods like freezing, drying, and pressure canning, planning tips for what to do when your CSA gives you 10 lbs. of kale, and other modern dilemmas.

It’s time to free those mason jars from the crafting pages of Pinterest and return them to their original, intended use! Join us!
